The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo on Wednesday took his jab of Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, and advised residents to shun any unfounded rumour about the vaccine, stressing on need to make themselves available for vaccination.
Penpushing reports that, Commissioner for Health, Dr Tommy Coker administered the vaccine on the Speaker at Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta, the State Capital, while Oluomo noted that the vaccine was a very healthy medical intervention against the virus.
The Speaker who led other lawmakers and management staff of the Assembly to receive the first jab of the vaccine commended the State Government for its ingenuity and commitment towards flattening the curve of the pandemic in the State/
Penpushing further reports that, Oluomo noted that there was need to orientate the people on the health benefits of the vaccines, stressing the need to ensure even and unhindered access to the vaccine by all residents across the State in line with the guidelines of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
The assembly in another development has begun the consideration of the 2015-2019 audit reports of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and therefore requested for the submission of supporting documents to support all costline outlined in its records before March 23rd, 2020.
Penpushing also reports that, the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption Hon Musefiu Lamidi, who made the request during a the Committee session held at the Assembly Complex, , noted that the expected documents included all approvals, payments vouchers and DVEA on maintenance of schools for the year 2019, likewise those related to planning, monitoring and evaluation expenses between 2017 and 2019.
The Chairman in company of other members including his Vice, Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye, Kunle Sobukanla, Ganiyu Oyedeji, Sikiratu Ajibola and Abayomi Fasuwa, sought for further breakdown of some of the budget heads including educational programes and counterpart funding which were the two major capital expenditure concentrated upon by the board between 2015 and 2019 with relevant supporting.
Penpushing reports that the Executive Secretary of the Board, Mr. Olalekan Kuye, in response assured the Committee that all relevant documents requested would be provided within the stipulated time.
The committee also considered the financial report of Oba Ademola Hospital as presented by its Medical Director, Dr. Ismail Abdulganiyu with a directive to the management team to prepare a comprehensive financial statement reflecting its entire income and expenditure.
Penpushing further reports that the Committee Chairman consequently directed that the report be submitted to the Assembly on or before Thursday, 25th March, 2021,while in his response, Abdulganiyu assured of the prompt submission of the document with a view to promoting accountability and transparency.
