There was mild drama at the 50th anniversary celebration of journalism practice in Ogun State, when a mentally challenged man stormed the venue and made away with a portion of food being served.

Penpushing reports that Wednesday, October 28, 2026, was set aside for all chapels under the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, to wine, dine and participate in a number of indoor games.

The ceremony was ongoing, with chapels seated under their various designated canopies and serving members with food, when the man suddenly strolled in and moved towards the Correspondents’ Chapel tent.

Penpushing further reports that to the amazement of journalists and guests, the man picked up a plate of food already served for a member and bolted from the venue.

The journalists, who were caught unawares, were left dumbfounded as the man hurriedly left the Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta — venue of the event — and settled at a distance to eat the food.
