A South African woman has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with 36.65kg of cocaine at Lagos airport and a Lagos-based car dealer accused of receiving and arranging accommodation for her.

Penpushing reports that the agency spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed this in a statement and gave identity of the suspect as a 34-year-old Qhina Beauty, explaining that she was arrested on October 7, 2026 at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

The statement stated that she was preparing to board a Qatar Airways flight to South Africa via Doha, adding that a search of her two bags uncovered 30 blocks of cocaine weighing 36.65kg, and that the drugs were wrapped in Sellotape, divided into seven parcels and laced with dried pepper.

Penpushing further reports that the suspect reportedly told investigators that she arrived in Nigeria on September 30, 2026 to collect the consignment, stating that another South African woman recruited her and promised to pay her 20,000 rand after delivery.

The statement said the suspect identified two other people allegedly involved in the operation, explaining that one based in the United States of America (USA) and the other a Lagos car dealer,

Penpushing also reports that the agency said it arrested the dealer, Uchenna Victor Umunnakwe, 46, on October 14, 2026 at Apple Junction, Ago Palace Way, Lagos, after keeping him under surveillance at his residence in Shasha.

The agency spokesperson said Umunnakwe reportedly admitted receiving Beauty at the airport and arranging her stay at Santiago Hotel in Amuwo-Odofin, pointing out that he later moved her to Cynarisso Hotel near the airport ahead of her departure.
