The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has disclosed that the second phase of Operation KOSAYE, a joint security operation between the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands, will soon commence to sustain the gains recorded in the fight against criminality across the two states.
Penpushing reports that Ojajuni made this known on Thursday during his familiarisation tour of the Abeokuta Metro Area Command at Ibara, Ogun State, where he commended security personnel, local hunters, vigilantes and other stakeholders for their support and cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force.
The police boss particularly acknowledged their contributions during the first phase of Operation KOSAYE, which he said involved a joint operation by the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands to sweep the Lagos-Ogun corridor, forests and other identified criminal hideouts.
Penpushing further reports that he said the operation succeeded in flushing out criminals from the affected areas, stressing that the collaboration between security agencies and other stakeholders remained essential to sustaining security in the region.
The commissioner explained that the state government and the Inspector-General of Police had continued to support the security architecture, directing security agencies to sustain the fight against criminality and prevent criminals from returning to previously cleared areas.
Penpushing also reports that he, however, urged the personnel and stakeholders to intensify their efforts, particularly in view of the shortage of manpower experienced during joint operations involving Ogun and Lagos states.
The police boss described the various security stakeholders as partners in progress and dependable allies, urging them to remain committed to protecting lives and property and serving the country diligently.
Penpushing reports that he equally charged police officers to maintain a cordial relationship with members of the public, noting that citizens remain the ultimate beneficiaries and, in that sense, the “boss” of the police and equally urged the personnel to uphold human rights and shun extortion and corruption.
“I want to put it to your notice that we are soon going to commence the second phase of Operation KOSAYE. Please observe human rights, abstain from extortion and corruption because we are out to serve the citizens and ensure that the state is safe and secured,” he said.
