Gunmen have allegedly abducted fifteen National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members along the Ofu/Itobe–Onicha-Igo axis in the Ofu/Itobe–Onicha-Igo axis of Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Penpushing reports that the gunmen seized the corps members of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II while travelling to Abuja after completing their orientation camp activities before beginning their journey
The source disclosed that the driver of the Peace Mass Transit bus conveying the corps members was left behind by the gunmen after sustaining injuries during the attack.
Penpushing further reports that a relative of one of the victims, was quoted saying the corps members were abducted on Wednesday while travelling from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State to Abuja.
The relative, identified as a family member of one of the abducted corps members, explained that the victims were travelling in two buses when they were attacked, adding that his brother, Ayodele David, was among the abducted corps members.
Penpushing also reports that a police officer said to have contacted some of the families, reportedly said the incident occurred along the Ofu/Itobe–Onicha-Igo axis, explaining that aside from a Peace Mass Transit bus another bus marked 564 was conveying them

Penpushing reports that he said the abductors reportedly spoke Fulfulde, Hausa and English, however, the victims’ relatives could not independently establish their identities, stating that 16 people were listed on one of the manifests, but one corps member was transferred to another vehicle after the driver said the bus was full.
The source added that the injured driver was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment, however, a video from the scene reportedly showed the attackers shooting at the vehicles before abducting the passengers.
Penpushing further reports that as at the time of filing this report it could not be ascertained whether a ransom had been demanded from the gunmen, while the Kogi State Police Command Public Relations Officer Afusat Salisu was yet to issue any statement in regards the incident
Meanwhile, the management the management of the Peace Mass Transit’s published customer service and emergency as at the time of filing this report yet to make any official statement on the incident.
