A political pressure group known as Yayi Intellectuals Forum has declared that the controversy on the indigeniship of Governorship Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of 2027 poll, Senator Solomon Adeola has finally been laid to rest.

Penpushing reports that the convener of the forum, Hon. Wale Bello, made the clarification on Monday while addressing a press conference at Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre, in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

The chieftain of the ruling party said the earlier allegation on the origin status of Adeola, popularly called Yayi was politically motivated and borne out of fear of the senator’s growing popularity ahead of the poll.

Penpushing further reports that Bello explained that the controversy surrounding Adeola’s ancestry was similar to past attempts to question the origins of former Governors, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel, which was eventually established as Bonafide indigenes of Ogun State

The convener added that those behind the campaign against Adeola were merely seeking to distract the electorate following fear over the increasing acceptance of the governorship candidate across Ogun State.

Penpushing also reports that Bello emphasized that traditional rulers led by Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle has affirmed Yayi as son from the zone, stressing that there was no question over that

“The traditional institutions have spoken. It is not for politicians to dispute the identity of someone whose ancestry has been affirmed by his own people,” Bello said.

Penpushing reports that he urged opposition political parties to abandon what he described as unnecessary debates over Yayi’s origin and should concentrate on presenting their programmes and candidates to the electorate.

The pressure group boss boasted that Adeola’s developmental projects and empowerment initiatives across Yewaland and other parts of Ogun State have endeared him to many residents, making issue-based campaigns more appropriate than personal attacks.

Penpushing further reports that Bello praised Yayi’s  numerous infrastructure projects, including roads, streetlights and empowerment programmes, adding that Yewaland had witnessed significant development under his representation in the National Assembly.

The convener expressed optimism that residents of the state would reciprocate Adeola’s performances with vote at election, and eventually win to become the next governor next year, advising that opposition should concentrate on issue-based campaigns as political activities gather momentum ahead of 2027 election
