Women Consortium of Nigeria, McArthur Foundation train actors on Home Grown School Feeding Programme on Digital Reporting

The Women Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON) with the support of McArthur Foundation on Tuesday organized training workshop for various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) and other stakeholders to further improve training of actors involved in Home Grown School Feeding Programme on Digital Reporting in Ogun State

Penpushing reports that, the one day training workshop tagged ‘Training the Trainers’ was held at Providence Event Centre, Abeokuta, the State Capital and had in attendance participants including Ogun State Ministry of Special Duties, Education Secretaries, Desk Officers, Community Monitors and Civil Society Organisations.

The Programme Officer of Women Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON), Bisi Olaonipekun in her speech explained that the objectives of the training with the theme ,’Knowledge Sharing and Train-The Trainer on School Feeding Tracker’ is to create a platform for experiencing sharing among Civil Society Organisations, other stakeholders, and to report detailed activities, outcome and success stories of Ogun State National Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

Penpushing further reports that, Olaonipekun said other objectives include: to train trainers and relevant actors that will cascade the training to other community actors, and train them on the Digital School Feeding Tracker designed by Sambus Geopatial  Limited for Action Health Incorporated.

The Operations Officer of Ogun State National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, Mrs Mopelola Osolukoya in her welcome address commended the Women Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON), for  its proactive activities on the project.

‘I wish to state categorically that we are indeed happy with what the cohort has been doing since 2018. The cohort has helped to keep us on our toes  to ensure programme effectiveness’, Osolukoya emphasized.

‘We want to thank the cohort for their object reports, WOCON has particularly helped with Media publicity (radio programme and jingles).Intervention at Abeokuta North, Ikenne, Imeko-Afon and Odeda local government’, she stated

Penpushing also reports that, the Operations Officer identified other project as include; capacity development for stakeholders, cooperation with the state implementors and government actors

‘The ministry wish to appreciate the cohort and WOCON for their efforts in ensuring programme success that has made Ogun state a learnt spot for other states across the federation’,Osolukoya stated

Penpushing reports that, Project Coordinator of Women Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON) ,Olukunle Adeogun in his presentation unveiled activities of the MacArthur Foundation, and equally gave insight to cohort peculiarities  across the state.

The Project Coordinator disclosed that the cohort were able to achieve outcome as well as recommendation and next step which include adoption of the digital data collection platform that will transit data directly to programme implementors to fast track decision making

Penpushing further reports that, Director of Programme of Women Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON), Mrs Morenike Omaiboje in her own speech saluted efforts of community monitors who she pointed out have excelled in their monitoring roles

‘On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors of Women Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON)   I welcome you all to the knowledge sharing  and train the trainers programme under HGSFP. We salute the great efforts of our highly esteemed community monitors who have excelled in their monitoring roles and who we have no doubt will endeavor to sustain the project’, she said

‘The same goes for our partners, Heads of NGO’s and CSO’s, men and women who have tirelessly  and selflessly fought the cause of humanity ensuring that smiles are put on the faces of the deprived and ensuring inclusiveness of every woman and every child’, Omaiboje added

The Founder of Positive Outreach Foundation and  Action Health Incorporation, Dammylola Shodiya  delivered a lecture on the topic, ’School Feeding Tracker Back End’, and thereafter questions were asked by the participants

Penpushing also reports that, a participant at the training, Sina Adefolahan of Community Education Advancement of Peace and Development Initiative (CEAPAI) said the training afforded participants the opportunity to track the quantity and quality of the Home Grown School Feeding in Ogun State

‘It is also  good knowledge sharing among the civil society actors that is aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the Home Grown School Feeding Programme in the State’, Adefolahan stated

The Coordinator of Child Protection Network (CPN), Ogun State Chapter Alfred Akingbade who is also a participant affirmed that the forum was laudable, which came at the appropriate time, and afforded stakeholders to be on same page

‘As a participant, the forum is a laudable one and could not have come at a better time than now. The forum afforded all critical stakeholders to be on the same page when it comes to monitoring government project’, Akingbade said

Penpushing reports that, Chief Executive Officer of JESA Future Foundation, Magraet Adeleke, who is also a participant while sharing her own experience, said the programme was educative, as it shared update and new development of National Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

‘The programme is educative and sharing the update and new development on HGSF. The sustainability of this programme is the collaboration of all of us, so that our children that are beneficiaries can benefit from it’, she stated
