The Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has departed to Doha, Qatar, for the fifth United Nations (UN) Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LCDs). on the invitation of Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Penpushing reports that Buhari was seen off at the Umar Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina, by Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State and some other governments officials to bid him farewell, and is expected to return to his country home, Daura, Katsina State, on 8 March, in readiness for voting in the March 11 Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections.
The President Media aide Garba Shehu in a statement said the conference will be attended by world leaders, the private sector, civil society groups and youth organisations, and aimed to share development ideas and mobilise political will.
Penpushing further reports that the statement added that the meeting is also for solidarity, actions and solutions to transform the Least Developed Countries (LCDs), by finding sustainable solutions to poverty, food insecurity, hunger and weak or non-existent infrastructure.
The statement said the conference will also address inadequate healthcare facilities and climate change in Least Developed Countries (LCDs) as they struggle to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Penpushing also reports that Buhari was accompanied by delegation which include some ministers and other government officials.
