The Nigerian world’s leading sprint hurdlers Tobi Amusan, on Sunday reaffirmed her status as she stormed to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League with a season-best performance.
Penpushing reports that the Nigerian star and world record holder clocked an impressive 12.28 seconds at the Stade Charléty, finishing comfortably ahead of the field to secure another Diamond League triumph.
The American hurdler Grace Stark, however, came in second in 12.38 seconds, while compatriot Johnson settled for third place in 12.39 seconds, and the winning time matched Amusan’s season’s best, having also recorded 12.28 seconds at the Xiamen and Rabat Diamond League meetings earlier this year.
Penpushing further reports that the Paris event was held under a revised and condensed schedule after a severe heatwave swept across France over the weekend, prompting organisers to cancel all lower-tier youth and regional club competitions.
The Nigerian born super star athlete, despite the challenging conditions and track temperatures that reached 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon delivered another composed and dominant display.
Penpushing also reports that 29-year-old exploded out of the blocks and executed a flawless technical race over the barriers, establishing a clear lead by the midway point and comfortably cruising through the tape.”
The commanding victory of Amusan in the French capital further underlines her growing momentum ahead of the Diamond League Final and sends a strong message to her rivals as the post-season circuit approaches.
