The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC), Bola Tinubu on Wednesday recorded1,271 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants who also contested for the ticket of the party ahead of the 2023 election in Nigeria.

Penpushing reports that, the victory of Tinubu came after lots of political calculations, miscalculations and intense horse-trading between chieftains and leadership of the party, a development which almost stalled the primary.

The former Lagos State Governor was officially declared winner of the primaries held at the Eagle Square, Abuja having scored the highest poll, while his closest opponent, Rotimi Amaechi (former Minister of Transportation scored 316 votes.

Penpushing further reports that, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo polled 235 votes, while others shared the remaining votes, with some of the aspirants recording zero votes of the accredited delegates across the state

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) will now challenge the candidates of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party)LP) Candidate, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

Penpushing also reports that, Tinubu, it is recalled had disclosed that to rule Nigeria has been his lifetime ambition, and was the first aspirant to inform President Muhammadu Buhari of his ambition to contest.

The national leader of the party, realizing danger associated with his ambition before the primary, had during a meeting with Ogun state delegates declared that, it was his turn to rule Nigeria, having paid his dues to democracy growth

Penpushing reports that, before commencement of the primaries, seven of the aspirants stepped down for Tinubu at the convention ground, while it is also recalled that, Tinubu during the Abeokuta outburst declared that he helped many political leaders in the country.

The annoyed Tinubu  specifically mentioned  Osinbajo and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, insisting that he stood by them, explaining that he withdrew his right as running mate for Buhari, and presented Osinbajo as alternative, as well coming to the aid of Abiodun   when he was rejected by the then outgoing Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
