Suspected cultists kill rival member, take away severed hand of victim

A gang of suspected cultists have killed a rival member popularly called “mosquito” in Ijagun area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State and severed the victim’s left hand which was subsequently taken away by the alleged killers.
Penpushing reports that Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola made this known in a statement explaining that clash broke between the rival cults, which was reported to the police by a concern resident through a phone call.
‘A clash between rival cults in Ogun State has resulted in a suspected murder which has claimed one life.  A concerned citizen through a phone call at about 2340hrs of 11th August. 2024 reported that cultists were involved in a confrontation along Ijagun Road, in Ijebu Ode Ogun State”, Odutola stated.
Penpushing further reports that she said upon  receiving the information, the Divisional Police Officer quickly dispatched a team of officers to the scene, adding that on arrival a body of an unidentified middle-aged man with matchete wounds and gunshot injuries were discovered.
The police spokesman added that it was noticed that the victim’s left hand had been severed, removed and taken away, stressing that the deceased was identified as a member of Aye confraternity and that six expended cartridges were recovered at the scene
“On arrival, and after a careful examination, the Divisional Police Officer  discovered the body of an unidentified middle-aged man with machete wounds and gunshot injuries.
Additionally, it was noticed that his left hand had been severed, removed and taken away”, Odutola added.
“It was later discovered that the deceased,  also known as “Mosquito,” was identified as a member of the Aye confraternity. Six expended cartridges were found at the scene. The body was evacuated and has been transferred to Ijebu Ode State Hospital where he was pronounced dead and placed in the morgue”, she said
Penpushing also reports that the Command Public Relations Officer said investigation was  ongoing as at the time of filing this report, with efforts being made to apprehend the suspects who fled the scene and unravel the pattern of cutting off left hand from deceased victims.
