The detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB,) Nnamdi Kanu has been allowed by the State Security Service(SSS) to meet his choice personal physician for medical examination in an unnamed hospital in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory(FCT).
Penpushing reports that Kanu’s counsel Ifeanyi Ejiofor, made this known, adding that the incarcerated Kanu has finally undergone his medical examination on Friday, and that he did that outside the facility of the security operatives.
‘We are pleased to inform you that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu met with his choice personal physician yesterday (Friday) in a hospital in Abuja, outside the facility of the State Security Service (SSS)’, the counsel stated.
Penpushing further reports that the counsel affirmed that he witnessed the consultation and medical examination which he said was seamless and productive, adding that he(Kanu) will be progressing to the next stage soon
The embattled Biafran Republic agitator is facing a terrorism trial at the Federal High Court, Abuja, and has been under the custody of the State Security Service(SSS) since he was rearrested in June 2021, while it is recalled that he has since 2022, repeatedly requested access to his medical doctors to enable him to conduct an independent medical examination, as earlier ordered by the Federal High Court, Abuja, on 20 October 2021.
