The Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has accused some state governors of prioritising the wrong things despite earning more for their states due to his policies, citing example of what he described as building unnecessary flyovers with state funds.
Penpushing reports that Tinubu took swipe on the governors when traditional rulers from Oyo State, led by the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, visited him at the State House in Abuja.
“You need to help us communicate to these governors. Today, the economy of operation is high. But the money that I’m pushing to the states, if you had it during your own time or during my time, it would have been different’, Tinubu stated
“They [governors] are taking four to five times their money. Nobody is borrowing money to pay salaries now. Pensioners are receiving their pay, and they should they should do more to instead of flyover where there is no numeric traffic, build roads and arteries network to really enhance the quality of life and the accessibility of the security agencies to penetrate those areas.”
Penpushing further reports that it would be recalled that Ladoja, who is currently Olubadan of Ibadan, was the governor of Oyo State in 2003 when Tinubu was Lagos State governor.
