The suspended Ogun State Chapter of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) on Sunday displayed their voter cards to the face of Governor Dapo Abiodun to woo him on need to  lift the suspension as 2023 election draws nearer.

Penpushing reports that, the members while participating in a march past in commemoration of the 2022 May Day Celebration held at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta displayed their individual voter cards for the governor to realize their relevance in the coming poll.

The Governor who is eyeing second term in office, it is recalled had suspended the union some years ago, following controversy within the motor park associations in the state, and established a new body known as Ogun State Parks and Management in replacement of the union.

Penpushing further reports that the union members in their hundreds joined other association bodies and workers union in the state, to participate in the ceremony, and as sign for the governor to know that , inspite of the suspension they still have voting power, and therefore using the voter cards to draw his attention to the need to retrace his step on the suspension order,

The union members equally came in multitude in participating in the ceremony for the Governor who was taking salute to let him know that, they formed larger percentage of voters in the state, at any giving time of election.

Penpushing also reports that, earlier in his speech, the Chairman, Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Akeem Lasisi had called on the Governor in the spirit of May Day celebration to reconsider his administration position on the fate of the National Union of Road and Transport Workers(NURTW).

The Trade Union Congress(TUC) boss  commended the Governor for not downsizing its workforce, nor embarking on salary cuts as done in other state in the face of the hard biting economic recession ,out of jobs, and ,adding that such would have thrown many breadwinners  and their children thereby facing untold hardships
