The Patron of Tinubu National Think-Tank, a political pressure group Hon Jelili Kayode Amusan has declared his interest in the 2027 governorship race under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogun State Chapter.

Penpushing reports that Amusan made the declaration on Thursday in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta explaining that his renewed ambition is being inspired by the need to contribute meaningfully to the continued development of Ogun State

“My intention to join the governorship race as the Patron of Tinubu National Think-Tank and Founder of JKA Support Group For PBAT Till 2031 Movement is greatly inspired by the PBAT Renewed Hope Agenda, with the objective of sustaining the achievements of the current administration and ensuring that our people continue to experience the true dividends of democracy’

Penpushing further reports that Amusan, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives who represented Odeda, Obafemi-Owode and Abeokuta North Federal Constituency, emphasized that he is no stranger to high-stakes political contests.

The Egba born politician has previously contested twice as an Ogun Central Senatorial aspirant and twice as an Ogun State governorship aspirant, building a wide political network and consolidating grassroots structures across the state.

Penpushing also reports that Amusan in the statement assured that he remains committed, as a responsible and law-abiding citizen, to follow due process and strictly adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act and his party constitution.

‘While I sincerely have the interest to contest the Governorship race of Ogun State come 2027, I remain committed, as a responsible and law-abiding citizen, to follow due process and strictly adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act and the APC party Constitution’, he stated.

Penpushing reports the former federal lawmaker anchored his decision on his two-term legislative experience at the federal level, where he contributed to lawmaking and constituency development initiatives.

The statement added that beyond politics, his decades of successful private sector business management experience, which he believes has equipped him with the administrative capacity, financial discipline and strategic planning skills required to govern a dynamic state like Ogun state.

Penpushing further reports that he highlighted his reputation as a grassroots listener who engages directly with communities, artisans, youth, farmers and traditional institutions to understand their concerns before designing policy solutions.

The Governorship hopeful explained that, his ambition is not driven by personal gain but by a bold vision to reposition Ogun State as a leading economic hub in Nigeria, and equally outlined key priority areas that will form the foundation of his agenda.

Penpushing also reports that these including tackling unemployment through industrial expansion, entrepreneurship support and skill acquisition programmes; improving access to quality education by upgrading infrastructure and investing in teachers’ development; strengthening security through collaboration with security agencies and community stakeholders.

The others are boosting agricultural production by supporting farmers with modern tools, financing to enhance food security and introducing operation feed Ogun State; improving healthcare delivery through upgraded facilities; and expanding infrastructure and transportation networks to create a more business-friendly environment.

Penpushing reports that he stressed that Ogun State possesses enormous economic potential due to its strategic location and industrial advantage, but that deliberate, transparent and inclusive leadership is required to fully unlock these opportunities.

The political observers believe Amusan’s entry could reshape the internal dynamics of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as aspirants begin consultations ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested primary election.

Penpushing further reports that the observers pointed out that his combination of legislative exposure, also through private sector background of over four decades and repeated statewide campaigns will position him as a formidable contender.

The observers pointed out that with consultations reportedly intensifying across local governments and party structures, many supporters argue that his consistency, resilience and deep-rooted connections across Ogun communities could prove decisive in 2027
