The notorious and controversial lewd musician, Habeeb Okikiola popularly called Portable on Thursday told the magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital that he is mentally fit and sound, which was in contrast to his earlier claim that he is a lunatic receiving treatment at Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.

Penpushing reports that he stated this when he was arraigned on a four-count charge which include felony, assault fully armed and breach of peace before Justice O.L, Oke, who had earlier asked him of his state of health.

The judge asked Portable who called himself ‘Were Olorin”(mad musician) if he would want the court to provide him medical institution to take care of his health, as his trial progresses, but in response told the judge that he’s medically sound.

Penpushing further reports that the musician had earlier in social media after been declared wanted by the police, that he is a mad person with patient card at Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, which he said can be verify from the authorities

“I fear government. I am a federal government liability. Then I’m a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients. I am from Abeokuta and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief, I help people around me without even looking at their background’, he was quoted saying

Penpushing also reports that at the Thursday arraignment when the charges were read to Portable, he said he was not guilty of the alleged offences, while the prosecutor, Timileyin Oredein, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on February 5, 2025 at about 10:00am at Oke-Osa in Tigbo Ilu, Sango-Ota in Ogun.

The prosecutor added that the accused with some of his staff unlawfully assaulted, restricted and obstructed Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, Akinpelumi Oyero who are officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development during inspection of his bar

Penpushing reports that Oredein said Portable and his gang were armed with dangerous weapons which include cutlass and guns, which they used to inflict injuries on the town planners, and equally conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace.

The prosecutor pointed out that the offences committed contravened Sections 516, 356(3), 80, 249(d), 197 of the Criminal Code laws of Ogun, 2006, while the counsel to the defendant Mrs Oluwatoyin Omomehin, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in liberals term

Penpushing further reports that Omomehin appealed to the court to use its discretion on granting her client bail, and gave assurance that he(portable) will not jump bail, adding that she would produce him at every trial.

The counsel explained to the court that the essence of the bail is for the defendant to prepare for the trial, adding that he would not tamper with police investigation, which she noted had already been completed

‘We have credible sureties. The defendant will not jump bail. He will come to court to attend trial. The prosecutor has concluded investigation, and he will not tamper with investigation. I want to plea with the court not to be persuaded with the charges’, the counsel added

Penpushing also reports that the prosecutor in response to the bail request by the defendant lawyer, told the court that he was not against the bail, adding that as the trial progresses five witnesses will be provided in court

The Magistrate, however, in his ruling granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2million with one surety who must be licensed bonds men registered with the Ogun state government, emphasizing and warning that the defendant not to make comment on social media or cause trouble regarding the case.

Penpushing reports that the trial judge warned that if the defendant violates the condition, his bail will be withdrawn, and thereafter, adjourned the case until March 5, 2025 for hearing
