The Delta State Police Command has recovered ten bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, popularly called Igbo from two suspects during an intelligence-led stop-and-search operation along the Onitsha-Benin Expressway,

Penpushing reports that the Command Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe made this known in a statement explaining that the suspects were intercepted in an ash-coloured Mercedes-Benz station wagon with registration number BEN 982 TE.

The statement added that the vehicle was occupied by Hilary Aloma and Oki Joseph, alias “Big Joe”, and during a thorough search of the vehicle, the operatives recovered ten bags containing substances suspected to be Indian hemp, which had been concealed within the vehicle.

Penpushing further reports that Edafe stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspected illicit drugs were being transported from Edo State to Awka, Anambra State, before the suspects were intercepted by the operatives.

The statement stated that the suspects have been taken into custody, while the exhibits have been secured as evidence, adding that Investigation is ongoing to establish the full extent of the criminal network involved and to identify other accomplices connected to the illicit trade.

Penpushing also reports that in similar vein, on May 30, 2026, at about 0530hrs, the surveillance team, attached to Asaba Area command, while on routine patrol behind Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Asaba, intercepted three suspects identified as Musa Sule (22), Moses Sunday (26), and Osama Ibrahim (25).

The statement said acting on reasonable suspicion, the operatives subjected the suspects to a search during which a locally made revolver pistol and other dangerous weapons were recovered, adding that the suspects were immediately arrested, while the exhibits were taken into custody and investigation is ongoing,

Penpushing reports that Edafe said the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism, and commitment to duty, and warned individuals involved in the unlawful possession of firearms, drug trafficking, cult-related activities, and other forms of criminality to desist or face the full weight of the law.
