The Delta State Police Command has arrested suspected fraudsters and drug dealers, as well as the recovery of counterfeit foreign currency and prohibited substances following separate intelligence-led operations.
Penpushing reports that the Command Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe, made this known in a statement, stressing that the feat was significant breakthroughs in the command sustained efforts to combat fraud, illicit drug trafficking, and other forms of criminality across the state.
The statement explained that on June 9, 2026 operatives of the special anti-kidnapping unit, acting on credible intelligence, commenced surveillance on a five-man syndicate reportedly involved in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public using counterfeit United States dollar bills while operating in a red unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV.
Penpushing further reports that Edafe said the intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of four suspects identified as Joshua Nwaosa, Daniel Arhewe, Prince Chukwuma, and John Egwuba along Nnebisi Road, Asaba.
The police spokesperson stated that during preliminary interrogation, the suspects confessed to operating from a hideout in Asaba, adding that a follow-up operation was immediately conducted at the location, where operatives recovered 1,600 counterfeit United States dollar notes and military camouflage concealed within the premises.
Penpushing also reports that he said investigation is ongoing to unravel the full scope of the syndicate’s activities, adding that in related development the command arrested two female suspected drug dealers and recovered illicit substances
‘In a separate operation 9th of June, at about 1115hrs, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), acting on actionable intelligence, stormed Owaliru and Alihame communities in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, where two female suspects were apprehended’, the statement read.
‘The suspects, identified as Ifeoma Egbule (36 years) and Anayeokwu Florence (51 years), were arrested in possession of substantial quantities of suspected illicit substances, including GH Gold, Colorado, Cannabis, and Canadian Loud. The exhibits were recovered and taken into custody alongside the suspects’, Edafe stated.
Penpushing reports that he said preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects were actively involved in the distribution of the prohibited substances within the area, adding that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the drug distribution network.
The statement stated that Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their professionalism, diligence, and commitment to duty, and reiterated the command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Delta State.
