The presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has announced former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
Penpushing reports that Obi made this known shortly after he was officially confirmed as the Presidential Candidate of Nigerian Democratic Congress, (NDC) ahead of the general election.
The leadership of Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed confidence that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket would strengthen the party’s chances in the forthcoming presidential contest, while the expression comes after the party formally adopted Obi as its flagbearer during its presidential primary.
Penpushing further reports that Obi and Kwankwaso recently defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress) NDC), citing internal divisions and protracted court cases within their former party.
The records, however, has it that while Obi enjoys strong support among many young voters and supporters in the South-East and parts of the South-South, Kwankwaso remains influential in Kano and across sections of Northern Nigeria through his political movement.
