The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ogun State Chapter on Saturday held parallel congresses to elect new executives for the two factions, a development which further attested to the unresolved crisis within the opposition party in the state.

Penpushing reports that a faction belonging to the 2023 Governorship candidate of the party, Hon. Ladi Adebutu held its congress at the Abeokuta Sports Club, Abeokuta, while the faction led by Deputy Governorship candidate, Hon. Abdulkadir Adekunle Akinlade, former governorship aspirant, Chief Jimi Lawal and the immediate past State Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Sikirulai Ogundele held its at the NeuGate Exclusive Hall, Agbeloba, Abeokuta, the state capital.

The Adebutu faction produced Abayomi Tella as State Chairman, and in similar vein, the faction led by Akinlade in conjunction with Chief Jimi Lawal elected the immediate past chairman of the party, Hon Sikirulai Ogundele as the Chairman

Penpushing further reports that in similar development Adebutu’s group produced Sunday Solarin as the secretary, while the Lawal-led group elected Alhaji Salisu Abdulwaheed Oloruntola as the secretary of the faction.

The congress committee of the party headed Alhaji Kabiru Baffa Jauro conducted the congress that produced Tella as the chairman and in same vein, congress committee led by Alhaji Kola Akinyemi conducted the congress that produced Sikiru Ogundele as chairman.

Penpushing also reports both parallel congresses monitored by the police and other relevant agencies produced a journalist, Austin Oniyokor as Publicity Secretary of the Lawal group, while an architect, Adebayo Kayode emerged the spokesperson of the Adebutu’s group.
