The Gideon Orphanage Home, a Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) located in Asero Estate, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital on Sunday provided cash relief for 53 individuals which include widows, aged and pregnant women.
Penpushing reports that the gesture was part of activities to mark 53rd birthday of Founder of the Orphanage Home, Oluwatoyin Banjo, as each of the beneficiaries went home with N53,000 each at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the organization in Abeokuta.
The Founder had earlier led the team of the orphanage home to some hospitals in the town to offsets medical bills of patients, and later proceeded to the home to equally attend to needs of the aged women, children and widows among others.
Penpushing further reports that food materials were equally provided by the home, at the ceremony attended by the philanthropist parents, joined by other dignitaries to grace the occasion, which include Apostle Lawrence Achudume, General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church (VLBC)
The Founder speaking at the event explained that the initiative was inspired by God, stating that she decided to support women whose medical bills could constitute a burden at a critical period of childbirth.
Penpushing also reports that she disclosed that each of the 53 beneficiaries received N53,000, while some received more because of additional medical expenses arising from complications, confirming that she had earlier visited various hospitals to assist patients before proceeding to the birthday celebration.
“I did something I have never done before because God put it in my heart to support 53 pregnant women or women who gave birth to children today, which represents my age. We gave each of them N53,000 each, even though some of them collected more than that due to additional medical bills because of complications and all’, she said
Penpushing reports that Banjo expressed gratitude to God for the success of the initiative and appreciated Nigerians in the diaspora who contributed financially towards making the project possible.
The celebrant’s gesture was also commended by a representative of Royal Ladies International, who described her as a woman of humility and compassion, affirming that Banjo had maintained a close relationship with the organisation through the influence of the late Reverend Fola Achudume.
Penpushing further reports that the representatives of Royal Ladies International under the auspice of Victory Life Bible Church (VLBC), added that Banjo’s humanitarian activities reflected some of the programmes previously undertaken by the late cleric.
“She is simple and accommodating. Her humility is 10 out of 10. She is always on ground for the Royal Ladies. She is a woman with a golden heart, a heart so large to accommodate people’, the organization emphasized
The Founder of Penpushing Media, owner of online newspaper and television, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji expressed delight at celebrating with Banjo, describing her as “a sister from another womb.”
Penpushing also reports that he commended her consistent support for Penpushing Media, noting that even when she could not attend some of its programmes, she often provided financial and material assistance.
“I’m proud to refer to her as a sister from another womb and she’s one to be proud of. I am proud to be associated with her, and I have no regret knowing her. God will continue to lead her right’, Kayode-Adedeji said
Penpushing reports that the veteran media practitioner advised the celebrant no to be distracted from her good work by mischievous characters, whose mission is always to discourage people doing good through negative comments
‘And let me say this whether you like it or not some mischief-makers will still talk evil about, you they would want to malign your character for doing good. They are part of the society. What I will tell you is that you should remain focused. Don’t allow the antics of the enemies to attract you so that you won’t be distracted’, Kayode-Adedeji emphasized
Penpushing further reports that mother of the celebrant Mrs. Akinpelu, in her remarks thanked God for giving her daughter to the family as their first child and prayed for her continued good life and wellbeing.
Meanwhile, earlier at the event Banjo appealed to guests and beneficiaries to observe a one-minute silence in honour of the late Reverend Fola Achudume and Hon. Tunde Oladunjoye, noting that the duo are known regular faces at the event but died few years ago.
