The remains of prominent member of Penpushing platform and veteran journalist, Oloye Lekan Alabi who died on Saturday were committed to mother earth on Sunday at his residence in Akobo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Penpushing reports that the burial of Alabi, a public relations expert, commenced with his interment at Eternal Homes, Fiditi, in accordance with Islamic rites, led by Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Agbotomokekere who conducted Janazah prayer
The burial ceremony of the media icon was witnessed by family members, associates, colleagues, traditional leaders, government officials and well-wishers, who gathered to bid a final farewell.
Penpushing further reports that it would be recalled that Alabi, who was the Abese of Olubadan, died at the age of 76, and was multiple press secretary to former Oyo State governors
The deceased served as a press secretary to four governors of the old Oyo State from 1983 to 1989, however, President Bola Tinubu in a tribute described Alabi as a consummate journalist and public relations expert, whose lifetime was distinguished by his exemplary public service.
Penpushing also reports that Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga,in the statement said the deceased had a distinguished public service career.
‘Oloye Alabi was a consummate journalist and public relations expert who had a distinguished public service career. He had the rare privilege of serving four former governors of Oyo State with distinction as Press Secretary’, the statement read.
“Besides being a veteran journalist and renowned public relations practitioner, he was also a cultural icon. His appearance, conduct and character spoke volumes about his passion for culture and tradition. He was also the cultural ambassador of the source in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Oloye Alabi was particularly close to the Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja’
Penpushing reports that the statement stated that the president condoled with Alabi’s immediate family, Oba Ladoja and Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the death as a great loss.
