The management of Penpushing Media, owner of online newspaper and television on Tuesday donated a wheelchair to Ogun State Hospital, Sokenu Abeokuta, as part of the media outlet Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative
Penpushing reports that the organisation’s team was received by the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Bababunmi Osinaike accompanied by Dr Tolulope Samuel (Head of Clinical Services/ and Chairman) and Mrs Temitope Adegbite (Assistant Director of Nursing)
The Founder of Penpushing Media, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji presenting the wheel chair on behalf of the editorial board and management explained that the gesture was aimed to support the health facility in providing qualitative services to the patient.
Penpushing further reports that Kayode-Adedeji, who disclosed that he was a former staff of the hospital, where he retired decades ago, said donations of such equipment has been the policy of the media outlet.
The Founder recalled that similar gestures were extended to Stella Obasanjo Children Home and Child Correctional Centre Asero in Abeokuta, where food items were donated to the institutions, explaining that the initiative was introduced by the management as a way to give back to the society
‘When we started operations of Penpushing Media, we decided to also focus on how we can effectively contribute our quota through Corporate Social Responsibility, and not just about news reportage of the needy, but how we can also make impact in addressing their plights with positive results’, Kayode-Adedeji stated
‘We observed that media organisations only report the plights of the needy, and leave their fates to the public, but at Penpushing Media we look beyond that and resolved to inject meaningful corporate social responsibility to touch lives positively’, he added
Penpushing also reports that he said the organization will not derail from the policy, assuring that it has become part and parcel of its responsibility and has become a regular feature in its operational activities
The Founder, a veteran journalist equally assured the hospital management of additional support and donations in due course, adding that other hospitals will be accommodated for similar gestures
‘I want to assure you that we would not relent in our policy of assisting the needy, as well as organisations to benefits from our gestures. We shall thrive hard to extend the gesture to other health facilities, and God on our side we would not relents on the efforts in offering support at all time’, Kayode-Adedeji emphasized
Penpushing reports that the Medical Director of the Hospital in response expressed appreciation to the management of the media out, affirming that Penpushing Media has become house hold name in the media world even before introduction of its policy to assist the needy and institutions
“There’s nothing that you bring that is too small. Patients would benefit from it and it would aid our healthcare services. It would be put to immediate use, so it is really appreciated,” Osinaike said.
Penpushing further reports that he, noted that even seemingly small contributions could have a meaningful impact on patients and healthcare services, pointing out that government could not shoulder the responsibility of providing all the needs of healthcare institutions alone, making contributions from individuals and organisations important.
The Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist said the hospital had recently identified some items it needed, adding that donors had within a short period provided some of the needed materials, thereby reducing the financial burden on the hospital management and government.
“About a month ago, we had a list of needed items we wanted to get and you would not believe that in less than two weeks, we had donors who funded those things, unknowingly that we needed those things. That takes a huge financial burden off the State Hospital, the management and the government itself,” he said.
Penpushing also reports that Osinaike commended the management of Penpushing Media for remaining committed to community service and giving back to society despite the economic hardship in the country
