A female passenger, whose identity was yet unknown as at the time of filing this report has been crushed to death by a truck after falling from the motorcycle on the Agbara-Lusada Expressway in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Penpushing reports that an eyewitness, identified as Kunle, explained that the crash occurred on Saturday at about 7pm at Cashier Bus Stop along the highway, adding that the sad accident occurred while the motorcycle was attempting to overtake the truck, and the victim fell from the motorcycle and was crushed by the truck.
“The accident involved a woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle. The motorcycle tried to overtake the truck, and in the process, the passenger, who was a woman, fell and was crushed by the truck.”
Penpushing further reports that Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident, adding that the vehicles involved were a white Howo truck with registration number T-34611LA and two motorcycles whose registration numbers were not displayed.
The agency spokesperson stated that, eyewitnesses said the crash occurred when one of the motorcycle riders allegedly attempted to overtake wrongly, causing a female passenger to fall under the truck.
“The RTA/RTC was caused by wrong overtaking on the part of the Okada rider, which led one of the Okada passengers to fall under the truck, which claimed her life,” Akinbiyi said.
Penpushing also reports that he said five people were involved in the crash, comprising three males and two females, while two people, a male and a female, sustained injuries, confirming that the injured victims were taken to a hospital by a good Samaritan before the agency operatives arrived at the scene.
The agency Public Relations Officer added that the deceased’s remains had been taken away by her family, while the truck was moved to police custody for further investigation, explaining that the agency operatives attended to the incident and restored normal traffic flow along the expressway.
