Segun Showunmi, Ibadan

The Babaloja-General of Oyo State, Alhaji Sunmaila Jimoh has promised to end problem associated with funds by Microfinance and some local Business Finance Managers through provision of free interest loan to traders, artisans, market men and women in the State.

Penpushing reports that Jimoh admitted that his office as Babaloja-General of Oyo State was unable to get some things done due to outbreak of coronavirus and some lingering crisis caused by those he described as enemies of progress of the union.

The Babaloja speaking with journalists on Thursday in Ibadan,  noted that some members go against the constitutions of the associations which drew back the progress of the associations last year; otherwise he would have given financial support to members during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Some of our members are yet to overcome the economic setback and accrued debts suffered during the pandemic, especially those whose businesses were outrightly affected through restrictions introduced by the government to reduce the spread of Covid-19”, he said

“I and some consultants have started working on loans that would attract no interest for our members, loan with long time payment and subsidy from corporate organisations, local and international organizations.”

Penpushing further reports that Jimoh maintained that payback period for each of the loan will be adhered to as he has contacted business management consultants to oversee to the usage and repayment of loans.

“We shall work with government at all levels on renovation, upgrading, reconstruction of our market places to rival what is obtainable in other countries. We are in 21st century, there shouldn’t be a market without toilet facilities, firefighting equipment, medical centers, constant flow of water and car parks’, Jimoh listed.

Penpushing also reports that, he applauded the commitment of Southwest Coordinator of the National Association of Nigeria Traders, Chief (Mrs.) Odunayo Danjuma, Chief (Mrs.) Justina Iyabode Ogundoyin, the Acting Iyaloja-General of Oyo State, Otun Iyaloja-General of Oyo State, Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje, who recently emerged as the Iyaloja-General-Elect.
