Owu prominent chief ishola akinsipo dies at 69

A prominent high chief in Owu Kingdom of Egbaland, Akogun Isola Akinsipo has been reported dead on Tuesday after a brief illness while  his remains were committed to mother earth in Abeokuta, his hometown according to Islamic rites

Penpushing reports that the deceased a veteran television broadcaster who passed on at age 69, left behind wives and children, and  was said to have been hospitalized for about a week before death snatched him away.

The deceased attended Nawairudeen primary school Atan from 1962 to 1969, and Baptist Boys’ High School, Abeokuta from 1969 to 1973, and later proceeded to St. Leo’s Teacher Training College Abeokuta, 1975 to 1977.

Penpushing further reports that he was a student of Ogun State College of Education, Ijebu-Ode, 1978 to 1981 and the University of Ilorin 1983 to 1986, later obtained  Master’s Degree of the University of Ibadan in Yoruba Literature in 2013.

The late Owu Chief started out as a teacher at Ansarudeen Primary School, Baase Iporo Obafemi District on September 17, 1973, while his teaching career took hhim to Igan-Okoto, Igbo-Ori, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu and Rev. Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Abeokuta from where he transferred his services to the Nigerian Television Authority(NTA) in 1982.

Penpushing also reports the popular Yoruba programme ‘F’ogbon Yo’ on Nigerian Television (NTA) Abeokuta brought him into limelight in the broadcasting world’, and voluntarily retired in 1992 to join the Insurance Industry working with Ogun State owned Towergate Insurance Company.

The deceased in his career rose to become Branch Manager of Atlantic Insurance Company in Kano and Abuja and finally with Leadway Assurance Company limited where he statutorily retired at the age of 60 in 2015.

Penpushing reports that Akinsipo a confessed polygamist, father and grandfather, devout Muslim, travelled on holy pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina in 2008 and was installed Akogun Owu Kingdom on 4th July 2005.

The deceased who was buried at Muslim cemetery at Olomore area of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, was quoted to have told his family not to organize any party, not even fidau, the 8th day prayer session.
