The 37th coronation anniversary of Osile Oke-Ona Egba, Oba(Dr) Adedapo Tejuoso was on Wednesday rounded up with installation of number of prominent sons and daughters of the kingdom as chiefs.
Penpushing reports that the ceremony held at the palace located in Sapon area of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital was attended by number of dignitaries which include Oke-Ona indigenes in diaspora.
The newly installed chiefs include Chief Samuel Aderinola Adebiyi as Are Gbobagbimo of Oke-Ona Egba; Chief Olukayode Adepegba as Asiwaju Gbogbogbo of Oke-Ona Egba; and Chief Abiodun Jinaidu as Ekerin Are-Ona-Kan-Kan of Oke-Ona Egba.
Penpushing further reports that others are Chief Ademuyiwa Gbadebo as Otun Mayegun of Oke-Ona Egba; Chief Sheriff Adams Abdul-Raman as Are Eleshin of Oke-Ona Egba; and Chief Mrs. Aisha Ajoke Akande as Asiwaju Iyalaje of Ilugun, Egba Oke-Ona, and Chief Michael Oluwole Shoretire as Asiwaju Mayegun of Oke-Ona Egba.
The list equally includes Adeyemi Samson Ogboye as Atobase of Oke-Ona Egba; Chief Mrs. Rukayat Oladogba as Yeye Atunse of Oke-Ona Egba; Alhaja Bolatito Huriwat Hamzat as Otun Lika of Oke-Ona Egba; and Chief Babatunde Adeyinka as Ekerin Mayegun of Oke-Ona Egba.
Penpushing also reports that the anniversary celebration, include participation of the Christian, Muslim and traditional worshippers offering prayers for the monarch, Oke-Ona Egba and the nation.
The royal father in his speech called for religious unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, pointing out that all religions serve the same God despite their different modes of worship.
Penpushing reports Tejuoso expressed gratitude to God for preserving him on the throne for 37 years, describing his reign as wonderful and fulfilling, emphasizing that he was happy to be present for the 37th coronation anniversary
“I am particularly happy to be present for this 37th coronation anniversary of mine. It has been marvelous. God has been so good to me and I am very appreciative of Him for all He has done in my life’, he said
The first-class traditional ruler stressed the need for unity among adherents of different religions, noting that Christians, Muslims and traditionalists are all children of God, explaining that although religions may differ in practices and understanding, they all point to the same Supreme Being.
“When we talk about God, we are all talking about the same person. It is just that we see Him differently. Christians, Muslims and traditionalists are all children of God and He expects us to live in unity,” he said.
Penpushing further reports that the monarch emphasised that the gathering of the three major religious groups during the celebration symbolised unity and peaceful coexistence.
“What we did here today by inviting Christians, Muslims and traditionalists shows that we are one. Let us continue to promote unity not only in Egbaland but across the whole world,” he added.
