Olowu of Owu kingdom commissions borehole for Totoro community, calls for joint efforts to renovate dilapidated buildings

The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof) Saka Matemilola on Thursday commissioned borehole projects meant for the use of residents of Totoro community in the kingdom, located in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Penpushing reports that the gesture under the banner of Olowu Welfare Community Project was the initiative of the monarch, who as at the time of commissioning, had already provided twenty-five boreholes across Owu communities.

The community with about 10,000 residents as affirmed by Alakoso Owu -Totoro township, Chief Adebayo Adeyemi, was thrown into excitement on the arrival of the traditional ruler, before he officially commissioned the borehole.

Penpushing reports that the Alakoso in his welcome speech pointed out that the provision of the borehole in the communities was a fulfilment of the royal father’s promise on ascension to the throne of the town.

The Owu Chief added that, the monarch had just fulfilled a promise made, expressing appreciation for solving portable water problems, the community is known to be facing for a very long time, just as he assure that the borehole will be adequately secured.

Penpushing further reports that Adeyemi in same vein, encouraged residents on need to value the project in ensuring that the borehole is judiciously use, just as he made pledge to the traditional ruler that the communities remain loyal to him

The Alakoso stated that the record equally has it that the royal father is in similar development embarking on other meaningful projects across the length and breadth of Owu Kingdom, stressing that his kingship is a blessing to the kingdom.

Penpushing also reports that the borehole project coordinator, Chief Ismail Epemolu in his brief remarks disclosed that at N5miillion each, has provided twenty-five boreholes across the Owu communities, which equally serves some neighbouring communities in the kingdom.

The Tayese of Owu kingdom boasted that the borehole projects were handled by competent engineers, adding that the water from the project is industrial which will serve for many years, without any blemish

Penpushing reports that Olowu of Owu in his speech, assured that more of the projects have already been designed for implementation across all the nooks and crannies of Owu community, adding that gesture also extended to the neigbouring communities.

The first-class traditional ruler, however, called on individual communities in the kingdom, on need to always engage youths towards developmental growth of their communities, stressing that youths are still agile in getting things done more than the aged.

Penpushing further reports that Matemilola said parents should endeavour to encourage their children in diaspora to support them in renovation of the dilapidated buildings in the communities, stressing importance need to show love to those outside the communities, so they will feel comfortable to return home and do the needful

‘I want to appeal that we should look inward on need to renovate dilapidated buildings in our communities. Let us engage our youths in getting things done positively for the betterment of our communities’, Matemilola said

‘Let us contact our children outside the communities to support this course. Let us avoid act that can discourage them. Let us show love to them, so they won’t be scared in coming home to support. Let us jointly transform the communities to look more attractive’, he emphasized
