Ogun state police command gives out N45million to families of dead policemen

The Ogun State Police Command has issued cheques of N45, 975, 433.05 to families of policemen and women who lost their lives in the course of  discharging their official  duties in the state, gestures said to be part of the of the  Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba policy.

Penpushing reports that the Commissioner of Police Olarenwaju Oladimeji handed over the cheques to the bereaved families on Tuesday at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters located at Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The Commissioner added that the gestures were extended to the bereaved members of the families, for them not feel the pain of the loss, emphasisng that the money was aimed to keep their families going and comfortable.

“The IGP knew how difficult it is when you lose dear one. My advice is that the money should be judiciously utilise. For those who can trade, look for trade you can do to feed yourself and train your children’, he stated

“For those who want to use it for education, please use it wisely.The Inspector General of Police emphatise with you and he has promised to continue to support you within the limit of resources available”, he added

Penpushing further reports that at the event each family member of the departed police operatives were seen coming out one after the other to collect the cheques on behalf of the affected families, while the commissioner explained that the money was paid from the group life insurance for the departed operatives.

The beneficiaries represented by ,Ms Blessing Owie who spoke on behalf of others thanked the Inspector General of Police for remembering the deceased policemen and women, pointing out that they appreciated the welfare gesture.

Penpushing also reports that Owie equally commended the police commissioner for giving out the cheques to the families, recalling that her late mother Mrs Monica Okeke was an Assistant Superintendent of Police before she died.
