The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka has called on civil/public servants on need to move beyond the euphoria of celebrating the public service day but embrace the deeper message of the celebration.

Penpushing reports that Saka made the call when he led the body of Permanent Secretaries, Labour Leaders as well as Civil/Public Servants to the Special Jumat Service to mark the commencement of the year 2026 Public Service Day celebrations, held at the Government Secretariat Mosque, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The number one civil servant added that they should equally appreciate the support and confidence of the State Government and respond with renewed dedication, higher productivity and an unwavering commitment to duty, as it is a privilege to serve as Public Servants.

Penpushing further reports that he pointed out that the Civil/Public Servants must continue to discharge their duties with a renewed sense of purpose, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to excellence in service delivery, as daily responsibilities have direct impacts on the lives of every citizen as well as the development of the State, thus, all hands must be on deck to make positive impacts.

“This year’s celebration is particularly significant against the backdrop of the sustained commitment of the State Government, under the able leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, to the welfare, development and improved working conditions of Public Servants’, he said.

‘The administration’s people-centred initiatives and continued investment in the workforce demonstrate a clear understanding that the effectiveness of government is, to a great extent, dependent on the quality, capacity and motivation of its Public Service’, Saka added.

“The approval for the extension of the palliative allowance and the weekly one-day-off arrangement, alongside other welfare-oriented initiatives, represent further demonstration of this commitment’, he stated.

‘Equally noteworthy is the prompt payment of salaries and other legitimate entitlements, as well as the sustained emphasis on capacity building and professional development. Saka emphasisied.

‘These measures are not merely welfare interventions; they are strategic investments in the human capital required to deliver efficient, responsive and citizen-centred governance”, he said.

Penpushing also reports that he commended all Public Servants for their contributions to the progress and development of the state and urged them to remain committed to the ideals of a responsive, efficient and professional public service capable of meeting the aspirations of the people.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Moriamo Oloko and the Clerk of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr. Sakirudeen Adebakin in their separate goodwill messages charged Muslim brothers and sisters to fear Allah in everything they do, and always imbibe the culture of punctuality and dedication to duty in their various offices.

Penpushing reports that the duo urged the workers to continue to serve the state diligently and in a committed manner, bearing in mind that God is the rewarder of all and would repay everyone according to his/ her work.

Meanwhile, Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul Fatal Buhari alongside league of Imams and Alfas of the Ogun State government secretariat mosque, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta offered prayers for the country, Ogun State and the public Service.
