The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya has called on Civil/Public Servants in the State Civil Service to continue to safeguard the integrity of the Service, as well as abide by the rules and regulations guiding it.

Penpushing reports that Onasanya made the call while monitoring the June 2025 edition of the Combined Confirmation/Promotion Tests and Compulsory Examinations for the Junior, Sub-Officer and Officers Cadres in the Civil/Public Service, held at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta.

The number one civil servant accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo and the Rector of host Institution, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Arch. Dr. ‘Koyejo Jolaoso, said this became necessary in order to retain the state in its best position among the comity of States.

Penpushing further reports that he explained that the process is in line with the extant laws of the service and forms part of the requirements for confirmation of appointments of newly recruited officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government, including parastatals, corporations and boards.

The Head of Service added that the examination which is conducted twice a year also represents a criterion to be fulfilled for eligibility for promotion in case of officers on inter cadre transfer and added that it was meant to familiarise officers with the rules, regulations and procedures in the Public Service, with the use of the reference materials.

Penpushing also reports that Onasanya said that the Public Service Procurement Act would be introduced at the next edition, which will incorporate into the process, specialized examinations for Para-military officers like the TRACE, Amotekun among others.

“Beyond this, at the next stage of the exams, a different aspect would be introduced to it. The Public Service Procurement Acts would be inculcated into the exam syllabus and specialized exams introduced to paramilitary officers like the TRACE, Amotekun  etc in order to be abreast of extant laws and global best practices, as this is how to deepen the Service”, he said.

Penpushing reports that the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo on her part said 863 candidates comprising the professional, sub-professional and junior officers participated in the exams.

The Permanent Secretary said the examination was intended to test the ability of the workers to apply the rules, regulations and principles in the Statutory Books – Public Service Rules (PSR), Financial Regulations, Office Manual and other law as well as extant circulars to their daily official duties.

Penpushing further reports that candidates including Adepeju Bankole from the Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Oreoluwa Ademola from the Office of the Auditor-General (State) and Ayoola Odufote from the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), commended the organisers for the smooth process of the examination.
