The Ogun State Government is to host high level parliamentary dialogue on gender-based violence legislative framework aimed at advancing legal and institutional reforms to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and protect vulnerable populations.
Penpushing reports that Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye made this known in a statement explaining that the dialogue is through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development
The Commissioner disclosed that the dialogue will hold  on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Mitros Hotel, Government ReservationArea(GRA), Abeokuta, and supported by the World Bank under the OGSTEP short-term Gender-Based Violence (GBV)Reform Grant, in partnership with the Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC).
‎
‎”The one-day dialogue is expected to bring together key stakeholders from the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive arms of government, along with representatives of civil society organizations and advocacy groups, to deliberate on legislative reforms promoting equity, protection, and survivor-centered justice:, she said
Penpushing further reports that Adeleye said central to the discussion will be GBV, Gender Mainstreaming, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Legislative Frameworks.
‎
‎“Critical legislative instruments on the agenda include the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Commission Bill, and the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent and Livelihood Restoration (FRILIA) Bill”, she wrote
“The dialogue will focus on implementation strategies and legislative commitments that ensure legal protections are not only comprehensive but also enforceable,” Adeleye added.
‎
‎Penpushing also reports that the Ministry said the dialogue remained a vital step toward developing coordinated, multi-sectoral approaches to gender justice in the state, while reinforcing the strong commitment of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration to zero tolerance for gender-based violence and continuous protection for women, children, and vulnerable groups.
‎
‎“Participants are expected to make practical inputs that would guide sustainable legislative reforms, deepen gender equity, and pave the way for inclusive, responsive governance that meets the needs of all citizens,” the statement emphasised
