The Ogun State Government has pledged a world class tradefair as the Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture commences preparations for the 10th edition of the International Tradefair and Investment, scheduled to hold between April 2-12.

Penpushing reports that, Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs Kikelomo Longe made this known at the press conference to flag off the fair, adding that the Governor, Dapo Abiodun has equally approved the upgrade of the complex and the infrastructure  to be more befitting.

The Commissioner said it was important for the government to make the state attractive in all ramifications, stressing that, henceforth the fair will return to its normal annual  activities, in view of the fact that, the emergence of coronavirus was behind the temporary suspension of the fair

‘The 10th tradedfair is going to be a world class. The Governor has approved renovation of the complex, and the bottle neck has stop. Let us make the state attractive for investors. The tradefair which was suspended, will now henceforth be annual event as it uses to be, Longe said.

Penpushing further reports that, the President of Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA)  Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye earlier in his address disclosed that the fair is being organized by the body  in collaboration with Ogun State Government

‘The theme of this year’s edition of Gateway International Trade fair is Transforming Agriculture and Commerce in a Highly Competitive Global Market. The fair would commence on Friday 2nd April 2021 and end on Monday 12th April 2021 at MKO Abiola Trade Fair Complex, Okemosan, Abeokuta from 9.00am-6.00pm daily’, he said.

Penpushing also reports that Olaleye explained that the topic was chosen considering the present global economic situation which had been grossly affected by the outbreak of coronavirus, adding that outbreak of the virus was responsible for the cancellation of the 2020 edition of the fair.

‘The present state of the global economy has called for more ideas and enduring innovations for our economic transformation and development, especially in the area of agriculture and commerce in order to meet the demands of the changing economic climate’ ,Olaleye stated.

Penpushing reports that, he pointed out that one of the major challenges that attended the outbreak of coronavirus is dearth in food supply, especially in the most developing countries and the country, adding that another major challenge is the effects of the nation’s land border closure by the Federal Government

The chambers boss who stated that, the fair will be under strict guidelines and protocols of coronavirus , said it would be a platform to ventilate innovations and ideas in agriculture and agribusiness as well as giving values to the agriculture outputs and commercially viable goods and service.

Penpushing further reports that, the immediate past National President of  National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Iyalode Alaba Lawson in her brief remarks commended the state government for plans and efforts in turning around the tradefair complex and supporting the fair.

The Iyalode of Yorubaland pointed out that for economic stability, there must be a synergy between the chambers and the government, adding that the genuine efforts of government in collaborating with the chambers was a welcome development
