The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele has affirmed that teachers play a critical role of shaping lives as the first identifiers and nurturers of potentials reinforcing the need for them to “Teach with purpose”.

Penpushing reports that she made this known while giving her keynote address during the “Teachers Conference 2026, Ogun State Edition”, with the theme, ‘Teaching with Purpose: Equipping Educators and Raising Change Matters’, organised by the Sparkle Foundation alongside Alpha Goal, held in the Sagamu town of the state.

The number two citizen emphasized the importance of teaching in shaping minds, building character and opening opportunities for learners, emphasizing that their roles as counselors, motivators and role models cannot be underscored.

Penpushing further reports that Salako-Oyedele challenged teachers to be purposeful in the discharge of their duties, which according to her involves being compassionate, competence and having good character informing that exceptional traits can only be inculcated into a child through the actions of their teachers.

The Deputy Governor explained that the current administration in the state led by Governor Dapo Abiodun is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that its education sector is one of the best there is, adding that this was the reason it continued partnerships such as this all in a bid to foster good support systems around the learners in the state.

“Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration has continued to prioritize reforms and investments that strengthen the education sector, improving learning outcomes and support for teachers. Our commitment is to ensure that our children, whether in urban centers or rural communities, have access to quality education that prepares them for life” she said.

Penpushing also reports that Salako-Oyedele while appreciating the organisers for putting the event together, encouraged the teachers present to remember that purpose tells us that a classroom is not just a room with desks and chairs.

The Deputy Governor emphasized that, rather, it is a place where destinies can be redirected, stressing that their pupils may not always remember what they were taught but they will definitely remember how their teachers made them feel and what they opened their eyes to.

Penpushing reports that the Chief Executive Officer Alpha Childcare and Alpha Chains limited, Mrs Caroline Popoola, in her training session appreciated the teachers for impacting knowledge in students, urging them to be more creative in their teaching styles, inspire curiosity, encourage good conversation, be passionate and learn how to use available resources to educate their students.

The Chief Executive Officer Sparkle Foundation, Mrs Olasinbo Ojuroye, in her opening remarks noted that without teachers the classrooms remain just structures, as they hold an important position in shaping lives and transforming societies.

Penpushing further reports that she added that behind every change maker, stands an educator who choose to teach with purpose, while describing them as incubators for problem solvers and nation builders.

The foundation boss noted that the foundation was committed to helping every child live healthy, access education and work towards achieving their full potentials alongside equipping teachers to be more effective in the discharge of their duties.

Penpushing also reports that she revealed that the foundation has provided educational material to more than 5000 students including uniforms, bags, books, Solar powered Information Communication Technology (ICT) in some schools with the promise to replicate them in others soon.

The Chief Executive Officer added that the foundation has also trained students in Poultry, Tie and Dye and Desktop publishing amongst others as a way of transforming lives through education.
