The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) is set to organise a conference aimed at addressing the plight of Nigerian girls in the midst of security challenges in the country, and this is scheduled to hold on September 9, 2021.
Penpushing reports that the workshop is the brainchild of Zone B(South-West) of the association and has been designed to attract participation of 200 participants, the ceremony is also to mark the International Day Protect Education Against Attack.
The association in a statement jointly signed by Omobola Nowoola-Akingbehin(Vice-President) and Funmi Adekoya(Zonal Secretary) said the conference has the theme, ’Insecurity: The Girl-Child as Endangered Species”
Penpushing further reports that, the statement said the event will take place at Radisson Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State with effect from 10am, explaining that the conference is in line with the Sustainable Development Goal(SDG) 5, which seeks women and girls everywhere must have equal rights and opportunities and be able to live free of violence and discrimination
The statement added that, National President of the Women Journalists, Ladi Bala will lead other notable personalities to the event, which include the South West Matron of the body, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2,Johnson Kokumo who will delivered a key note address and Mrs Ibukun Awosika(Chief Executive Officer, Chair Centre Group among others
