The League of Veteran Journalists Oyo State Chapter have commended the management and editorial board of Penpushing Media for professionalism injected into journalism practice which cut across the globe.
Penpushing reports that the commendation is contained in a statement of congratulatory on the 5th anniversary of the organisation issued by the league chairman Banjo Ogundele, and called on the management of the organization to keep the flag flying high
‘When you started this venture five years ago, nobody ever imagined it could grow to this lofty height. But, I am sure the success was due to dints of hardwork, endurance, belief in oneself, doggedness and determination. Of course, there is no crown without its cross, but you just weathered the storm successfully’, he wrote.
‘I remember an incident I had with you and some senior colleagues in the pen profession, years ago when you were just starting, at the opulent Palace of one of Egba kings. He accused you of not submitting your story to him for censorship before publication. I was startled and was keen to see your reaction. You refused to be cowed and I went home satisfied that journalism still has a future. I said to myself: “We can surely hand the baton to journalists like this.” It dawned on me you would go far’, he stated.
Penpushing further reports that Ogundele expressed joy that Penpushing Media has proved that the elders in the profession are comfortable that, journalism baton can be handed over conveniently to the organisation
‘So, I am highly encouraged by the fact that we have people like you to whom we can reliably pass the baton. Even though the social media has encroached on our territory disastrously, one is encouraged that the ethoes and ethics can be preserved even under very strenuous circumstances. How many times have the Supreme Court denied planted stories? Even Peter Obi cries out of being misquoted or of people planting words into his mouth in the social media’.
Penpushing also reports that the former Editor of Nigerian Tribune added that the league is delighted with the caliber of members of the management and the editorial board of the globally read Penpushing Media, owner of online newspaper and online television
‘I am exceedingly delighted with the calibre of members of your Management and the Editorial Board: they are men and women with unassailable pedigree, of “timber and calibre.” Little wonder you have grown so much in just a little space of time’, Ogundele emphasised.
‘My advice: Please keep the flag flying aloft, without allowing success to derail the noble objective of being one of the best. The sky is your limit. Please accept my hearty congratulations’, the statement emphaised.
