Nigerian journalists to honour founder Citizen F.M, Radio, Najeem Jimoh with icon of media award

The founder of Citizen F.M Radio Station with headquarters in Abuja, Alhaji Najeem Jimoh is to be honoured with Milestone Recognition of Media Icons in Nigeria, at a media ceremony organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)

Penpushing reports that a statement by the Chairman, Organising Committee of the event, Gbenga Onayiga and Secretary Olayide Awosanya said the event which is the second edition will hold on Thursday 7th December, 2023 at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The statement explained that the recipients are personalities that have carved a niche for themselves in the nation’s media Industry, and have contributed immensely to the media space beyond the shores of Nigeria.

‘These personalities have shaped the practice of journalism in Nigeria, having spent decades in the media Industry. There is nowhere their names are mentioned that people won’t be proud of their tall achievements’, the statement reads.

Penpushing further reports that the committee added that Jimoh, who doubles former Editor of Punch Newspapers will be bestowed the media icon award alongside other awardess which include Mallam Baba Dantiye, Dr Danladi Bako, Mrs.Dupe Ajayi-Gbadebo, and Mr.Lade Bonuola.

The statement added that others include Folu Olamiti, Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye, Prof Femi Adefela, Chief Emeka Ezeze, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna and Mr.Tony Akiotu, adding that all awardees have shaped the practice of journalism in Nigeria

‘These personalities have shaped the practice of journalism in Nigeria, having spent decades in the media Industry. There is nowhere their names are mentioned that people won’t be proud of their tall achievements,” he added.

Penpushing also reports that the organizing committee disclosed that former Governor of Ogun State Aremo Olusegun Osoba is the Father of the Day while High Chief (Sir) Gabriel Igbinedion will be celebrated for his giant strides and huge investments in the Nigerian media Industry.

The committee in the statement disclosed that former Editor and now Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad, will be the Keynote Speaker at the event, while it is on record that the maiden edition of the Milestone Recognition of Media Icons was a huge success.

Penpushing reports that in addition the maiden edition has media professionals like late High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Dr John Momoh, Mr Sam Amuka-Pemu, Prince Nduka Obaigbena  and Aremo Olusegun Osoba aspart of the award recipients.
