The Nigerian Content Development and  Monitoring Board (NCDMB)  is adequately  prepare to record a feat as the Nigeria’s first oil and gas park is now at advance stage for commencement of operations in Odukpani, Cross River State.

Penpushing reports that this was made known during a media tour of the multi-million complex held on Thursday, conducted by the Director of Corporate Communications of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr Ginah  Ginah

The Director Corporate Communications who earlier addressed the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), thereafter took them round the edifice and affirmed that in due course business activities will commence, as the park is ready for habitation

“The facility started ten years ago. This park is ready for habitation. We have already advertised for interested manufacturers and are presently going through applications to see those who are qualified’, he added.

Penpushing further reports that Ginah explained that the board has already advertised for interested manufacturers and are presently going through applications to see those who are qualified to be considered

The Director  pointed out that all needed facilities have been provided to make the place conducive for the manufacturers, and that these include manufacturing hall, security, roads, 24-hour power supply, banking hall, restaurant, and state-of-the-art Information Communications Technology(ICT) facilities

Penpushing also reports that he added that others facilities provided at the park sitting on 25 hectares of land include fire service, water treatment plant, mini parks for accommodation, and free land for those who wish to build their own structures.

‘All these are things that increase cost of production, so this park is going to crash the cost of production. We have already advertised for interested manufacturers and are presently going through applications to see those who are qualified’, Ginah said.

Penpushing reports that Ginah disclosed that the Nigerian government to further make the park attractive, has pledged $50million to attract companies to the parks, just as he equally stated that other such parks are under construction across the Niger Delta.

The Director said this is part of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) efforts to significantly increase local content in the oil and gas industry and generally drive Nigeria’s industrialisation.

“We have taken Nigeria’s local content level from 5% to 55%. The industry spends about $20 billion a year, so you are talking of about $10 billion saved annually’ Ginah told the online publishers in his address.

Penpushing further reports that he emphasized that Nigerian Content Development and  Monitoring Board (NCDMB) goal is to take the local content in the industry up to 70% by 2027, stressing that the only way to achieve that is to ensure local manufacturing of components, hence, need for  are building parks.
