The Nigerian Government has summoned South Africa’s High Commissioner to Nigeria over xenophobic attacks in South Africa, a development described as mistreatment of Nigerian citizens and their businesses
Penpushing reports that Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu ordered the summon as seen in a statement shared on X, by the spokesperson of Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, Kimiebi Ebienfa.
The statement disclosed that a meeting has been scheduled to hold on Monday, May 4, 2026, explaining that the objective of the meeting is to formally convey the Nigerian Government’s profound concern of the mistreatment of Nigerian citizens and their businesses in recent protests by some South Africans.
Penpushing further reports that Ebienfa in the statement added that the foreign affairs ministry is aware of the growing discontent among Nigerians of the South African attacks, just as it would be recalled that the violent protests in parts of South Africa targeting African migrants, including Nigerians.
