The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo has confessed that his favourite music is ‘Zombie’ which was produced by late music legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti

Penpushing reports that, Gbadebo disclosed this on Monday at a press conference in his palace in preparatory for the 35th Lisabi Festival scheduled to hold between February 28- March 6, 2022 in Abeokuta.

The monarch who  is a retired soldier admitted the skills and talent of the late renowned musician, popularly called ‘Ebami Eda’ said contrary to the belief that, the deceased was hated by the military disclosed that, his music was choice of many military personnel in the country

Penpushing further reports that, the royal father announced that, the grandfather of the late musician, Rev Josiah Ransome-Kuti, who was the author of Egba anthem, would be honour as the hero of the year at the ceremony.

The traditional ruler emphasized that, ‘Abami Eda’ remain music icon globally even in death, explaining that, despite contrary views about his conduct, he changed the world with his music, which till date remained evergreen.

Penpushing also reports that, Gbadebo said the theme of this year festival is, ‘Youth Inclusiveness: An emerging Reality in Socio-Economic Development of Egbaland’, explaining that, the theme was carefully selected bearing in mind the pride of place occupied by the teeming youths in the scheme of things in the socio-economic development of Egbaland, noting that the youths are the core and nerve of active generation

‘Another important reason for the choice of this year’s theme is the prevalent mad rush for illicit acquisition of wealth and ostentatious living prominent among our children and youth these days through various form of vices’, he added

Penpushing reports that, in her response, Yemi Ransome-Kuti while speaking on behalf of the Ransome-Kuti, expressed appreciation to the monarch and the Egbas for the honoured of Hero of the year, to be bestowed on their late grandfather

The grandchild of the awardee, however, tasked on  parents and elders in the country on need towards addressing social vices, known to be prevalent among Nigerian youths, stressing that, the trend is becoming too worrisome

Penpushing further reports that, other traditional rulers and high chiefs in attendance at the conference include Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburee Bakre, Tiwalade of Akinale, Oba Femi Ogunleye, Onijaye of Ijaye Titun, and Onijale of Ijale-Papa

The high chiefs are ; Chief Sikirullahi Atobatele(Balogun of Egbaland, Chief Bode Mustapha(Osi of Egbaland), Iyalode Alaba Lawson, (Iyalode of Egbaland)  Chief Oluyomi Olaogun,(Lisa of Egbaland) Chief Akanni Akinwale(Baagbimo of Egbaland) and Abraham Shoyoye(Akogun of Egbaland)

Penpushing also reports that, others are  Chief Kehinde Sofenwaantun of Egbaland), Chief Tokunbo Odebunmi,(Onimo-Ero of Egbaland) Baaroyin of Egbaland; Chief Layi Labode, (Baaroyin of Egbaland), Chief (Mrs) Tejumade Bakre( Gbegba-Aje of Egbaland) and Chief(Mrs) Kemi Oloyede(Iyaloja of Egbaland.
