The out-gone Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Dr Adeoye Odedeji, was on Thursday given a mockery ‘send-forth’ by the staffers of the institution after his five-year term as rector of the institution.
Penpushing reports that Odedeji received shock of his life, when the staff of the polytechnic, shortly after the announcement of a new rector to take over after expiration of his term, trooped to his car park, which serves as entrance to his office to bid him a mockery departure.
The staffers were seen with brooms to sweep the entrance to Odedeji’s, symbolizing a shameful departure, as they also embark on various songs to condemn his tenure, which they said was associated with iron fisted operations.
Penpushing further reports that the staffers did not stop there as they also engaged the service of band team, to add glamour to the mockery 'send-forth' organized for the immediate rector, as they danced round the campus to bid his final exit
The staffers in various songs which rented the air said they have been praying for his exit, adding that they thanked God that He did not disappoint them after series of prayers over the autocratic style of the former rector while in office.
Penpushing also reports that as at the time of the mockery 'send-forth', it could not be ascertain whereabout of the out-gone rector who joined the services of Ogun State Polytechnic now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta in 1996 as Lecturer II and by dint of hard work, he rose through the ranks to the status of Chief Lecturer in 2015.
The immediate past rector is a member of many professional bodies such as: Institute of Personnel Management, Nigeria; Nigerian Rural Sociological Association (NRSA), International Farming System Association (IFSA) and a Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (NITD).
Penpushing reports that he has been the Chairman of numerous Committees in the Polytechnic such as Staff Disciplinary Committee, Premier Lecture Planning Committee, Curriculum Development and Review Committee, Examination Planning Committee, Conference Marking Committee, Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit, Academic Space Committee, Publication and Assessment Committee etc.
The former rector has been the Director of Academic Planning of the Polytechnic from 2014 till 2020, who until his appointment, and has several books and over fifty (50) publications to his credit.
Penpushing further reports that the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, however, on Wednesday approved the appointment of Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso as the 10th Substantive Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta with effect from Friday, December 6, 2024.
The new rector is expected to take over from Odedeji whose tenure of five years expired on Friday, December 6, 2024, but as at the time of filing this report it was not clear if Odedeji will be on ground for the handover ceremony following the ugly development on mockery manner the staffers conducted a “send-forth” for him
