A world-renowned Iconic musician Lionel Richie has been reportedly hospitalized after cutting a concert short in Minnesota, a state located in the Upper Midwest and northern regions of the United States of America (USA).

Penpushing reports that the 77-year-old was sighted in videos sitting down during his performance, telling the audience he felt “dizzy.”, while a band member later told the crowd that he (Richie) wouldn’t be able to finish the show and thanked them for coming.

The medical incident on stage forced him to cut short the Minnesota concert on the opening night of his tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, and earlier he was sitting down on stage to perform a rendition of “Dancing on the Ceiling,”

The Grammy-winning American music idol known for some of his favourite songs which include “All Night Long”, “Dancing on the Ceiling,” among others joked about the incident at the Grand Casino Arena, where he was performing

“What I have learned about my years of being in the business. When you are feeling dizzy, sit your ass down. And when you are feeling strange about yourself, sit your ass down! Now, I want you to know, that’s the first time in the history of ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ I’ve done it sitting down. That’s a bad sign, y’all’, he told attendees.

Penpushing further reports that a member of the band, saxophonist Dino Soldo, eventually walked out and told concertgoers that Richie wouldn’t return to finish the planned performance.

“Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He won’t be able to continue with the show. And additional information will be available. Thank you for your patience, and your understanding’, he said

Penpushing also reports that Richie’s tour with Earth, Wind & Fire is set to roll out in 26 locations across North America, with the next scheduled performance slated for Friday night in Chicago.

Meanwhile, there is no word yet on whether or not that performance will go forward amid news of Richie’s reported hospitalization, while additional information is been expected from tour company Live Nation.
