The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described the former Minister of National Planning, Mrs Adenike Ebun Oyagbola as a woman impacted her world while alive, adding that his administration would continue to support, recognise and identify with notable sons and daughters of the state for their invaluable contributions to the continued growth and development.

Penpushing reports that Abiodun stated this at burial service of matriarch of the Oyagbola held at the Diocese of Yewa Anglican Communion, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ayetoro town of the state.

The Governor represented by the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya pointed out that worthy sons and daughters of the state who lived lives of dedication to service, integrity and pursuit of a better society like the late Oyagbola would continue to be celebrated and given a pride of place in the history of the state

Penpushing further reports that he described Oyagbola as more than just a name in the history of Nigeria, adding that she was a force to be reckoned with as the country’s first female Cabinet Minister.

The Governor added that she shattered barriers and paved the way for many women to take their rightful places in governance, while her role as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico further solidified her legacy as a diplomat who represented the nation with dignity and grace on the global stage.

‘The contributions of Late Chief (Mrs.) Oyagbola to Ogun State and particularly her beloved Yewaland, remain indelible. As the Iyalode of Yewaland, she was a mother, mentor, and pillar of strength to many’, he added.

‘She championed gender equality, education and socio-political inclusion long before they became mainstream concerns. Her life embodied resilience, vision and commitment to justice and progress’, Abiodun stated.

‘For us as a state, her passing is a great loss, not just to her family but to Ogun State, Nigeria and indeed the entire African continent. However, we take solace in the fact that she lived a life of impact, service and dedication to the greater good of the people of the nation and humanity”, the Governor stressed.

Penpushing also reports that in a sermon, the Bishop of Yewa Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd. Dr. Michael Oluwarohunbi, who ministered from Eccl. 9:10 enjoined the congregants to use their God-given gifts for humanity and glory of God.

The clergyman added that any unused gift would expire as life itself expires when death comes calling and equally urged them to emulate the deceased who used her time, experience, wisdom, wealth and all her God given gifts to serve humanity and the propagation of exemplary life and living.

Penpushing reports that the first son of the deceased, Barrister Bayo Oyagbola during an interview with journalists eulogised the virtues of her late mother to include integrity, steadfastness and service to humanity, one who impacted every soul who crossed her path positively.

The Vice President of Chief (Mrs) Oyagbola’s pet project, Centre for Attitudinal Healing, Otunba Gbenga Onayiga in a related development has called on Nigerian Government to immortalize the deceased

“I urge the Federal Government and  State Governments to immortalize Mama Ebun Oyagbola for her forthrightness, incorruptibility, tenacity and selfless service to the country”, he emphasised

Penpushing further reports that Onayiga, a veteran journalist and notable member of Penpushing platform noted that only the late  former female Minister and late President Shehu Shagari were cleared of corruption after thorough investigations by Buhari/Idiagbon military junta.

Meanwhile, dignitaries at the ceremony include Senator Olamilekan Adeola, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, former Senator Kola Bajomo, Co-founder, GTB plc, Mr. Fola Adeola, members of the Ogun State Executive Council among others.
