The Lagos State Police Command has arrested thirteen suspected traffic armed robbers in a fresh operation by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Wednesday while the suspects were lurking around motorways, old toll-gate and Olusosun dump site, Ojota areas of the state.

Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer, Muyowa Adejobi made this known in a statement, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has again reiterated the command’s commitment to eradicate traffic robbers in Lagos State.

The statement said the suspects are: Akeredola Taiwo (33), Oriyomi Solola,(28), Olanrewaju Sikiru (25), Hakeem Ridwan (22), Joseph Ovie (33), Muhammadu Aminu (32),Monday Nweke (35), Emmanuel Anthony(24), Onyeka Muoghara(40), Salaudeen Rilwan,m (32), Kayode Dele (31), Silas Manner (27) and Favour Elijah (26).

Penpushing further reports that, the statement said, the Commissioner while addressing officers and men of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and other operational units who are deployed at strategic places across the state to fight traffic robbery, emphasised on the need to adopt various anti crime strategies in combating the menace which must not be allowed to jeopardise the security network of the state.

The Police boss has, however, ordered that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for proper investigation and possible prosecution, and  assured the general public of the command’s relentless efforts in eradicating traffic robbery and providing adequate security for all and sundry in Lagos State.

Penpushing reports that, Adejobi said some of the suspects were caught red-handed while taking drugs in their hideouts around the corridor; and they were actually fingered and recognised by the residents and eye witnesses to have been involved in some of the previous traffic robberies and other crimes being perpetrated in the areas.
