The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Mudashiru Obasa, has been impeached by his colleagues for gross misconduct and abuse of office, and subsequently replaced by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mojisola Mirana.
Penpushing reports that the sacked Speaker has represented Agege Constituency 1 in the Assembly since 2007 and has been the speaker since 2015, while his removal is believed to have the backing of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The Governor is said to have been having secret political battle with the embattled former Speaker, while as at the time of filing this report dozens of police officers have been deployed to the assembly’s premises to prevent the breakdown of law and order.
