The popular producer and child’s right activist Kola Obadimu jnr has again set out to embark on a drama project to address prevailing social vices among the youths, aimed to complement government’s efforts in curbing the vices in secondary schools across Nigeria.

Penpushing reports that, Obadimu in an exclusive interview said the idea is in accordance with the United Nations (UN) Child-to Child communication strategy, adding that the drama competition project is designed to entertain, educate and inform the students on drug abuse, cultism, bullying and other social vices.

The award winning Nigerian playwright with several published books. explained that the project will kick start from the twenty local government areas of Ogun state with participation of the students.

Penpushing further reports that, he  said the project will be moved round the entire Nigeria, stressing that the core objectives is to encourage child participation in accordance with the United Nations(UN) declaration on the rights of the child.

The project initiator emphasised that, it will divert the mind-set of the students from drug and other social vices, which also include examination malpractices, prostitution  and hooliganism among others, adding that it will develop and showcase the creative potentials of the students

Penpushing also reports that, Obadimu explained that the drama will foster unity and team spirit among the participating students, stressing that it will be done under strict compliance of coronavirus protocols and guidelines.

The playwright ,on the modus operandi, said participating schools will be given 15 minutes to present  their drama piece on any of the vices, with the aim of proffering solution to the menace, stressing that panel of judges shall be literary icons, and winners shall be awarded with prizes.

‘It is so disheartening that teenagers both male and female are involved in drug abuse and other vices such as cultism, gangerism, bullying. Let the children influence themselves positively by role-playing the issues in accordance with the United Nations right to participation’, Obadimu state

’The students will understand the issues better when it is dramatized live on stage because they are involved, as they are being entertain, they are being educated and informed’, he emphasized.
