The Kogi State Government has opened discussions with the Guttmacher Institute on building an evidence-based investment framework to strengthen family planning services and support more sustainable funding.
Penpushing reports that the engagement, reported by the state government in September, focuses on developing the evidence needed to identify funding requirements and guide investment in family planning.
The Guttmacher Institute has pledged support for the state’s effort to build a stronger case for sustainable financing and improved services, while a key part of the proposed work is to establish the resources required to improve family planning delivery.
Penpushing further reports that such costing and investment planning can help government identify service gaps, set priorities and make informed decisions about funding, however, the discussions are particularly relevant as health programmes face pressure to sustain essential services amid changing donor support.
The statement emphasized that a clear investment framework could help Kogi state plan for continuity of contraceptive supplies and access to family planning services.
