The Gunmen who kidnapped a retired lecturer of Federal Polytechic, Ofa, Kwara State,  Fasasi Olanigan have contacted the  family  on Wednesday night, demanding the sum of N25million to secure his release.

Penpushing reports that, it is recalled that, the former polytechnic teacher was seized at gun point by the attackers at about 20m in Isaga-Ibara Orile axis of the road, while travelling in his Toyota car from Abeokuta to Imasai , in Abeokuta North local government area of the state,

The former lecturer was not that lucky, as the bandits who emerged from the bush dragged him out of the car and forced him back into the forest,  but  the other occupant managed to escape and  later raised alarm informing the family members of the ugly development.

Penpushing further reports that, following the incident, hunters in the neigbouring community made frantic efforts to comb the bush, having seen the foot prints of the abductors, but could not locate them as well as the victim as at the time of this report.

The family said, the case was reported at Isaga police post, as well as Lafenwa Police Divisional Headquarters, and also appealed to the police authorities and other security operatives to help in the search and recovery of the victim.

Penpushing also reports that, the brother of the victim, Alhaji Abass Olanigan, a retired Permanent Secretary in Ogun State Civil Service, confirmed the contact made by the kidnappers, adding that they demanded for N25 million ransom

The victim’s junior brother who was a former Head of Protocol at Governor’s Office, Abeokuta,   lamented over the ugly development, and  recalled that his elder brother after retirement  from Offa in Kwara State, decided to relocate to Abeokuta, with the conviction that, Ogun State is peaceful, lamenting that the incident was worrisome .

Penpushing reports that as at the time of filing this report, the police are yet to issue a statement on the development, while efforts to speak with the Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi was still ongoing
