The fate of President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi is said to be unknown following crash of helicopter conveying him on Sunday alongside other officials including Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, which suffered a hard landing near Jolfa in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province.

Penpushing reports that the helicopter has been officially declared missing while search operations continue, as at the time of filing this report while rescue operation was said to be underway but was being hampered by poor weather conditions.

The Government spokesman Ali Bahadori Jahromi explained that a cabinet meeting was held where officials were briefed about the missing helicopter, adding that the Vice President Mohammad Mokhber had travelled to Tabriz along with other members of the government.

Penpushing further reports that the Iranian constitution states that in the case of the death of the President, the Vice President would take over with the approval of the supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.
