If I have my way, I would be celebrating my birthday on every ifo market day, says Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday said if he has his way, he would have prefer celebrating his birthday on every market day of  Ifo town, explaining that this was in view that only information available to him by his parents was that no original date of his birth was recorded

Penpushing reports that Obasanjo said this during a church service held at Chapel of Christ The Glorious King situated within the premises of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta to mark his 87th birthday.

The octogenarian told the congregation at the well-attended ceremony during his vote of thanks that all what he could recalled was that his mother told him that what she knew was that she gave birth to him on a market day in Ifo town

‘My birthday was not written, but my mother told me I was born on market day in Ifo, but doesn’t know the year. Age, some people say is a number. If I have my way, I would have been celebrating my birthday on five interval days of Ifo market, Obasanjo said jocularly.

Penpushing further reports that Obasanjo jocularly said that if he was to go by submission that he was born on market as told by his mother, his birthday celebration should have been on five inter-day market days.

The former President, however, declared that he remain grateful to God for sparing his life to have attain the 87th year, he was celebrating, pointing out that God has been good, kind to him, as well showering mercy upon him.

Penpushing also reports that the service conducted by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome had in attendance number of dignitaries which include Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye (Tiwalade of Akinale), Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of Labour Party and Senator Gbenga Daniel (Former Governor Ogun State)

The others are Olubara of Ibara, Oba Olufemi Omolade, Chief Bode Mustapha (Osi of Egbaland), Otunba Oyewole, Fasawe, Chief Femi Majekodunmi, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji (Founder Penpushing Media), Chief Doja Adewolu and Justice Soremi among others
